Martin Fisher Humanitatian Response

Martin Fisher Martin Fisher Humanitarian Response & Planning

For much of the past eighteen years, Martin has been working with UN OCHA and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in the field of emergency response and preparedness planning, leadership, risk management and strategy. Predominantly this has been in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East, but with periods in Sudan too. He has also worked with RedR UK and the Sphere Project.

Throughout his career, Martin has been involved in learning in a range of subjects and contexts. He was lead facilitator and designer for UNDAC induction and consolidation courses, as well as facilitating the team leader training and CMCoord. Less obviously related to emergencies and resilience, but where he learnt a huge amount about discipline, coordination and planning, he also assisted in teaching Wing Tsun kung fu and running culinary events.

Based between Budapest and Newcastle, Martin is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and speaks Russian and Hungarian.
