Jeff currently works through the Network helping UK Companies to understand how US emergency services operate and the many complexities of the governance and regulatory environment in which they operate.
Well qualified and traveled, he is currently Assistant Director of the Research and Data Analysis Center at the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) in Fairfax, Virginia.
Jeff completed 32 years operational service as Deputy Chief of The Charlotte Fire Department (CFD) and Director of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office in 2015. As Director, he was responsible for planning and executing the community's all hazards preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation programmes focusing on 'whole community planning' which better prepared citizens and first responders for the next disaster.
Joining the Charlotte Fire Department in 1983, Jeff was promoted to Captain in 1988, Battalion Chief in 1997, and Deputy Chief in 2002. He received his Associates in Fire Protection Technology from Central Piedmont Community College, his Bachelors in Fire Administration from the University of Maryland, and his Masters in Homeland Security and Defense from the Naval Post Graduate School.
Throughout his many years of experience, Jeff responded to numerous natural disasters across the state and the nation, including Hurricane Katrina. During the 2012 Democratic National Convention, he served on the Executive Steering Committee and led the planning and operations components for the Charlotte Fire Department and CharlotteMecklenburg Emergency Management Office.
