Jürgen Högl Jürgen Högl Disaster and Crisis Management

Jürgen brings more than twenty-five years of expertise in humanitarian aid, crisis and emergency management in a range of operational and strategic functions both on both national and international level. Prior assignments include heading Disaster Management departments of Austrian Red Cross, senior functions for IFRC, and working experience in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Primarily working the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, his expertise includes in depth-knowledge of response mechanisms of the RCRC Movement, NGOs, the UN Cluster system, the UCPM and other Civil Protection Systems. Senior proficiency in operational and strategic leadership, contextual situation analysis, as well as planning and implementation of operations and programmes in multi-stakeholder environments.

Areas of expertise also comprise Contingency Planning, Risk Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Emergency Medical Services, Programme Management, Safety and Security Management, Business Continuity Management, design and implementation of training programmes. Juergen holds academic degrees in ‘Safety and Security Management’ and ‘Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management’.

Jürgen has coordinated a range of national and international R&D projects alongside the disaster management cycle. He has been a member of national standardization boards and international expert committees on crisis and disaster management, and was active as a university lecturer. He is committed to working in high-performance teams and to designing and implementing comprehensive ‘out of the box’ solutions.
